In the early days, Joe Cornell single-handedly fanned the fires of ballroom dance. In 1957, Joe decided to use his dancing talent to help build social confidence and self esteem in Detroit area youth.

His dance classes were originally held in basements, but as popularity grew, Joe found it necessary to find a permanent location. Today, the Joe Cornell Entertainment office is located in Southfield, Michigan, and the dance program is run as an outreach program at area schools, temples, and country clubs.

The Joe Cornell Experience is still very much like it was when Joe first started. Classes, filled with an even number of boys and girls, teach social dancing basics, (merengue, swing, fox trot), line dancing, free style and current fads.

Special events are integrated into the program, as well, featuring the always popular Moms & Sons Night, Dads & Daughters Date Night; costume parties; and more.

Parents involved in local schools and religious institutions have continued to support Joe Cornell Entertainment due to the positive influence their children receive from the company's services.
